Chadron State College Bacterial Genomics Day 21: A Summer Science Sunday
Sundays at SSP are a great chance to get some well-needed rest and get anything done that we don’t have much time for during the week!

After sleeping in until about 9:30, I started out my day with a protein bar for breakfast and a run. Since we didn’t have any work to do today, it was a great opportunity to go for a longer run than usual.

On the way back from my run, I ran into my friend Peilin on her way to brunch! The food here at Chadron is actually a lot better than I expected it to be!

After that, I spent some time downstairs and talked to some of the kids in biochemistry. They have homework on Sundays that they were working on. I’m so glad that bacterial genomics doesn’t have to worry about that!

There is not a lot to do here in Chadron, so people have had to get creative. Prakrit decided to learn embroidery!

Honestly, I don’t do a lot on Sundays. Today I decided to re-do my nails and watch a movie. I rewatched the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, it was so good!

It was finally time for dinner. We usually have to dress up for dinner, but today we didn’t have to. My roommate, Impana and I unfortunately did not get the memo and showed up in our nice clothes!

Dinner today was so good! I had salmon, cassoulet, cauliflower, and brussel sprouts. For dessert I had some fruit and granola. Usually the fruit here is not great, but today it was really good!

I sat with Syna, Sophia, Impana, Zahra, TA Mi Young, and TA Luci. It was nice to have free seating!
After dinner, I went back to the dorm and called some people from back home. It’s crazy to think that I’ll get to see them again in less than 2 weeks! SSP has gone by so fast already and I’m so sad that we are already more than half way through!
