Bacterial Genomics

Lehigh University Bacterial Genomics Day 19: Friday but NOT a Fri-yay… Pt. 2

The day started with running to STEPS at 8:40 to try to make it to the classroom by 8:45.Luckily, I got there on time.

After discussing the paper that we read this week for our PLA (primary literature assignment), we began our first attempt to plan an experiment. Our objective for the experiment was to find the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of our mutated bacteria. The calculations for diluting the tested antibiotic concentrations were pretty confusing at first, but we got through them.

Afterward, we discussed writing the Materials and Methods part of a scientific paper. We then had lunch, which was good.

We continued to work on planning an experiment after lunch. We then had a few lectures and wrote a draft of our Materials and Methods section for our own experiment.

This is Daniel with his banana.

After working for the afternoon, we changed and went to dinner. This is me, Jenny, and Danielle when we thought that the dinner line was going to be very long. However, we were just stuck outside the door for some reason, but there wasn’t really a line.

After dinner, we were back in the classroom and worked until 10 pm. The first picture is teams 6 and 7 + Destin + Yixuan – Leslie. The second picture is a computer camera pic with Hugo + Luke + pretty much the same group!
