Bacterial Genomics

Lehigh University Bacterial Genomics Day 2: Sunday Funday

Hello everyone! My name is Kimberly H., and I’m from Los
Angeles, California!! ૮₍ ˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶ ₎ა Today, I started off my day by going
to the C-Store to buy ingredients with my friends. We were planning
to create viral Korean snacks to refresh ourselves from the summer
heat. As someone from California, I’m not used to having humid
summers, so I’ve definitely had to dress a lot lighter to withstand the
summer. (◞ ‸ ◟ㆀ) On the other hand, it’s very beautiful here at
Lehigh University, and I get to see deer every morning. Just how this
morning, when we were on our way to the store, we ran into this
family of deer. Super cute! ( ˶ˆᗜˆ˵ )

We first stopped by the Asian market to get specific ingredients that the regular C-Store would most likely not have. While we were there, we decided to kill time by playing with the vending machine. Even managing to grab one of the plushies! (•̀ᴗ•́)و ̑̑

Then we went back to grab boba before shopping for fruits at the C-store! The boba was actually really yummy ಠڀಠ Unfortunately, we did have to carry our heavy groceries back up the hill but it wasn’t as bad as I expected it to be.

For lunch, we decided to walk back down the hill and get ramen together
because of how hungry we were. We all shared bites from our bowls to see who’s food was better or something we would want to order for ourselves on the next Sunday. The food was really good and I had fun playing the 1-minute stopper challenge the restaurant had. We were close to winning, but maybe next time! (>_<)

During our downtime waiting for dinner we decided to go down to the common lounge and play pool. While we waited, my friends and I decided to prepare the Bingsu, Korean shaved ice because of how long it would take to freeze. Spoiler: the Bingsu did not finish freezing, we had to wait the entire day. We decided that it would be better to just finish making and eating the Bingsu the next day as a sweet treat.

After dinner, we went back to the common lounge to start creating the Hwachae,
another Korean snack that I’m not entirely sure how to explain lol. ╮( ˘ 、 ˘ )╭ This is where we used all the ingredients that we bought from the store to create the Hwachae. We didn’t have large bowls at hand so we decided to use the watermelon as a bowl for the food/drink. ₍⸍⸌̣ʷ̣̫⸍̣⸌₎ Once we finished eating it, we made more for everyone to grab from and try. Safe to say that everyone liked it after giving it a try! We would later go back to finish eating the watermelon and clean up the mess we made.

To end the day, we decided to go out onto the grassy area in front of our dorms to
play badminton together! While I was waiting for my turn, I decided to call home
and catch up with my family. (ി˙ᗜ˙) Once I finished my phone call, I did join my
friends in playing badminton and creating funny serves. It began to get dark so we
decided to call it a day and head back to shower. Overall, I had a really great day
today!૮₍ ˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶ ₎ა
