Linfield University Astrophysics Day 31: Grind time
I woke up at 6 am today even though there was no 8:30 lecture. Why? Because our posters were due today. This is quite a predicament considering we started our poster two days ago. Me and my teammates rushed to Graff and immediately got to work. Actually, I lied. Before we got to work we actually went to the dining hall to get 3 cups of black coffee, then we got to work. We were pretty locked in and got it done. We actually got Ben’s and Dr. T’s approval for our poster so that was great. In all honesty, it was a very funny experience cramming at the last minute. Stressful, but nonetheless still memorable and funny.
After submitting the poster we had a lecture about submitting our results to MCP which was very exciting. It was great to see our research actually contribute to the broader scientific community! Then we had lunch. Chef Marcus is genuinely amazing. He is such a great person and is super accommodating!! Shoutout Chef Marcus we love you. After lunch we had our last belonging series, which is kind of sad because it shows that the program is almost over. The belonging series was very informative, and I believe, overall, this series was very helpful towards my mental growth. I learned a lot in terms of how to act, portray myself, and think about certain topics. Now, after the belonging series I went back to the dorms and took a fat nap. I think it was around 3 hours, but I am not sure.
After my nap, I freshened up in the bathroom and went to Graff to find out we are all making a movie for the talent show? Yeah I was pretty confused too, but I just went along with it. It turned out to be a murder mystery movie, and hopefully it will turn out good. Ashley is editing all of it by herself so my first time watching it will be with the rest of the people here. I was the lead detective along with my friend Aarav so that was nice. It was fun acting out the scenes, but it was also pretty difficult. I don’t think I am cut out to be an actor, maybe a poet or a scientist. After making the movie, I met up with my team to work on my paper. We worked on the paper for a little bit and then started throwing lifesaver gummies in each other’s mouths. Needless to say, a lot of work and thinking (lol) got done that day.
