Purdue Biochem II Day 6 – Savya

Good morning SSP! Today is the first Saturday (and half day) of the program and we have a game/movie night scheduled after dinner. We started the morning with a lab session in the CHAS building. My lab group and I carefully removed the concentrated protein solution from the dialysis tubing and transferred it to a few other tubes for freezing. It was a short lab session that was followed by a short lecture from our amazing teacher Dr. DC.

Lunch marked the end of the academic section of the day, and today was our first lunch in the Earhart Dining Hall. I had a delicious plate of pasta, veggies, and hummus.

I used the first long break out of the lab to finally do my laundry and play pool in the basement while my cycles ran. (Thanks to William for letting me use his laundry detergent!) It was the first time I had played pool in months and we were in teams of 2-3.

I’m proud to say I won both the games I played, once in a team with Brianna and another in a team with Annie & Yuri. After my laundry was done in the dryer, I took it upstairs and got ready for dinner. Today was the last day I ate with the Table 4 group and Mr. Shorey as dinner groups switch weekly.

The highlight of the day was most definitely after dinner at the group activity night. Around 15 of us had started watching Ferris Bueller’s day off, but after only five minutes in, only three of us were remaining.

The movie was excellent and was certainly an 80s classic. We watched it until it finished at around 9:30 PM and joined up with the rest of the group playing board games.

At 10 PM, we were “encouraged” to retire for the day and I made my way back to my dorm room to get a good night’s rest.
