SWOSU Day 31: Gatorade Factory

5 days left.

It’s getting a little too real today. I’m trying my best to enjoy this last week. This morning I woke up before my alarm and I’m so happy I didn’t stay up all night because today I tried my hand at doing two TIME-DEPENDENT labs at once. I was soooo locked in.

For today’s morning lab, we worked in the blue gatorade factory, and tomorrow we’ll work in the pink lemonade factory!

(we’re trying to remove dyes from contaminated water using our metal complexes)

It’s also a lab that makes us come back every few hours to get more data ☹️. I think this is the most time-consuming efficacy testing, and I kinda regret picking oxidation catalysis, but honestly it’s not that bad when you get the hang of the procedure.

Dr. Hubin was nefariously marking up our papers as we were doing the lab. Something malicious is brewing…🤨

The lab-factory of doom

I was right💔

I’m the olive fiend 😈

Amogh quote of the day: “Just because you don’t give up doesn’t mean you’ll make it. 😎”

I think we might be the only team that named our complexes. Ermmm it might be ethically irresponsible to develop emotional attachment to them…

Here are our cute baby names:

SWOSU merch ($50 for both of us but I wanted a cool souvenir)

I went on a walk after nightfall with Jonathan and Angel. Ms. Latus has a three person rule to keep us safe. During the walk, the birds made sure we knew they were there. It was super loud so we escaped to the football field.

Why does the moon look like the sun? lol

I also caught lightning on camera!

I’m trying not to think about it but I’ll have to say goodbye soon. But it’s after a bunch of deadlines so I can’t enjoy the final days. Don’t get me wrong, the past four weeks have been unforgettable, but I’m starting to feel the pressure this week.

Danny

Hi! I’m Danny Nguyen and I’m really into chem but not bio so synth chem conveniently coming out last year was great news for me. I’m sentimental so I get merchandise and lots of photos when I can. I’m from Las Vegas and I’m focused on ways to quickly remove/detect PFAS and EDCs.
