University of Wisconsin-River Falls Cell Biology Day 18
Hi everyone, Evelyn here!
Today started like any other, with me and my roommate groggily waking up at 7:10 to get ready for the day. On our walk to breakfast, we took a quick stop at the lab to grab our laptops and for a few of us to look at their bacteria cultures (the plates were unfortunately blank, much to their dismay). Breakfast was decent as always (UWRF has pleasantly surprised me with the food quality).
After breakfast was a surprisingly short lecture from the amazing Dr. B about how to make our final poster presentations.
We then went to the lab, where my group had to repeat some of our experiment after we had some strange results yesterday. It ran a little long, so I basically shoveled down my lunch in 10 minutes and went straight back to the lab.

Since our group had to go back a step, we finished up creating our bacteria cultures and got to work on our papers for a bit. We then went back to the lecture room for a presentation by Dr. A about how to make figures for our future posters/presentations. It basically all sums up in his final question: “Could someone who never reads my Results section fully understand this figure from the legend alone?”
After lecture we went back to the dorms to change really quickly and then headed to dinner. We were pleasantly surprised to find dumplings, which were honestly decent for cafeteria food. After dinner we went to study hall from 6:30-9:00, where my group worked on our various assignments and reflections for the week. There was world cup chaos, strange whiteboard drawings, and everything but work getting done.

With that, we’re done with another day of SSP. I can’t believe we’re more than halfway done; I miss it here already!
