Good morning SSP!!!! It’s the second to last week here and everything has really sped up in pace…I woke up this morning already worried about the yeast we incubated because this was our second try and we were on crunch time ㅠ ㅠ! Anyway, I got ready to head to breakfast and the sun was sooo beautiful (and so was I 👀…so I whipped out my digicam and took a selfie)

I went to breakfast and it was pretty good!! Then I rushed over to the lab to see if we got any growth on our experimental plates…womp womp, we saw some very TINY colonies! Thankfully our beloved professor Dr. B said we could take out the small colonies and try what we could, so we did!

Now despite starting the morning slightly bummed, my teammates optimism made everything great! We started working on our protocols for the day and we decided that we would do a spot assay (more work 😓) SOOOOO because of that we had to make some YPD plates with hydroxyurea…but that was pretty fun. I also had to make some overnight cultures for our very busy upcoming sunday.

ALSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO we had our open boundaries moved to Saturday instead of having it on Sunday!! WOOOO, so as a result of course me and my friends went out! :))

We started by running away from the police on our way to the market (don’t ask)

THIS is my #1 hater, Oyin, getting milk for her cereal

And we spent kinda long in the market trying to get ingredients for our dear friend Milcah to make smores cookies! Pictures hopefully incoming in someone else’s blog!

We wanted to go to the thrift store or an antique shop but everywhere was closed :< so we just kept going to the festival! Here are some picssss

From left to right it’s Yarei, Amanda, Oyin, Alyson, and Me! In the back is a random guy who photobombed lol. After chilling at the festival a bit, we went to a restaurant and ate some delicious food! But me and Amanda made a pit stop at the bookstore. I had gone to the bookstore about a week or two before, but I saw the book Amulet (one of the graphic novels of all time) and really wanted to get it so I grabbed that and some gifts for my family!

Hey guys, my name is Precious and I’m from North Carolina! In the future I hope to research Alzheimers and Aging and to eventually become a Pediatric Neurosurgeon. Outside of SSP I enjoy crocheting, collecting keychains, and listening to music (listen to Like a Tattoo by Sade!!), and reading dystopian books/graphic novels!
