University of Wisconsin-River Falls Cell Biology Day 28: SSP EXPERIENCE

I awoke from my slumber at 8:05 a.m.
I did not want to wake up at all, and then I remembered that my blog was today. On July 13th of 2026, the day Isaac decided that I should write on this specific day….(Not very cool of him…)
I realized that today is the last Monday of SSP, five more days until we officially leave…Isn’t that crazy how time flies by? I, myself, still cannot believe that we only have this much time to spend with each other. Although I cannot deny it, I really do miss my mother. A part of me is glad. A part of me is NOT glad that I have to go back to Arizona… to the 100°F+ heat. I don’t even go out to begin with and my friends have been telling me that the weather is currently not pleasant due to dust storms and thunderstorms.
Anyways! Today is officially the last day we get to finish our labs! Yay! (or not yay..) I started off my day with my team trying to figure out what final phenotyping we are going to do today. I went up to the 2nd floor to see my beautiful spot assay plates, only to see most of them merged D: My assumption is that people kept touching our plates to get their own plates…makes me sad..

After the mourning of my plates, my lab mates and I were locked in to finish our phenotypes. (Enya didn’t want to be a part of this…) Alex did flow cytometry, Enya did yeast growth curves, and I did microscopy. It was a very stressful process since most of these were last-minute…
Mohika, Peter, and Yesha being very gluttonous… At least they’re happy 😀
By 11:50 am, I was ready to grab lunch with Mohika. We were missing pizza since the dining hall did not serve it for some time, but when we finally walked inside… there it was! There was pizza; we were happy! You don’t know what you’ve got ’til it’s gone.
Once lunch was done, we all went back to finish our labs, and me and Elena went to get some ice cream, yummy. I finally got started on my microscopy. (Shoutout to Isaac for helping me with microscopy :P)
It was around 4pm and Alex asked me and Enya if we wanted to take a picture with the “Science Tower of SSPI Cell-Bio” (According to Dr. A from Discord)
At the moment of writing this, I still have to wonder who, what, where, when, why, and how this occurred…Although I cannot lie, this is pretty cool, but surprising how much Cell-Bio used pipette tips.. Wow..
Then I went to dinner, and I was so so so happy that Kai was sitting at my table!! (Kudos to Natalie for arranging this seating, I appreciate it)
After dinner, I went back to my dorm and took a very nice nap of 30 minutes. I did not want to wake up, but I had to go back to the lab once again to help my lab mates with anything they needed and work on the poster.
Elena and the rest of Cell-Bio are locked in (I think) on their posters since it’s due tomorrow :’(
Now it was 9pm, I went back to the dorms with Elena to get some rest.
Kai metal bending..She owns the city!!
Overall, today was a bit stressful, but all is good for now. Gulp, I am not that excited for tomorrow since posters are due at 11:00am. Hopefully my lab mates and I will get it done on time. After that, we have to keep working on our manuscript. I anticipate tomorrow to be better.
