University of Wisconsin-River Falls Cell Biology Day 30: SSP EXPERIENCE
print(“3 days till the end”) – Day 28 Reference
I can’t believe it’s almost time to leave: Today, create the final research report; Tomorrow, presentations and a talent show; Friday, certificates; Saturday, the end. It’s scary to know it’s so close. As much as I’ve hated nights here, I will never forget the rush to get work done in study session, the random music room sessions, and the late night walks. As much as the deadlines and hours of lab work has made me feel overworked, I will never forget the experience I got out of this. I not only grew as a scientist learning pipetting and CRISPR (terms I would have never thought I’d actually understand), but as a person, learning to collaborate and display passion. But anyways!!! Here’s the past day and how it went. Today, was lab clean up and research report drafting day. Everyone cleaned up most the lab today, organizing empty pipette tip towers, placing gel trays in the right place, fridge boxes in the front.

Here’s a picture of me, Peter, and Mohika (Cas-3 RAHHHH) with the pipette tower.
While we were cleaning up, Leah and Jeffery also made this drawing of SSP Cell Biology Yay!!!
Next, we made our way to the upstairs classroom to work on our posters. I spent a good 3 hours trying to format our paper (welp) buttttt………it looked good in the end. However, I was in good company. Me, Maya, Alyson, and Elena were peacefully (not really) typing away hoping to finish early and skip away to music room heaven.

Also, a couple of us were in the Falcon center practicing for the talent show, and rock climbing. It seemed very very fun. Here is a picture of Patryk and Peter climbing while Saharsh watches:
Then, I ate lunch in the dining hall. It was actually decent! Mac and Cheese, Fried, Chorizo, and Pizza (so so healthy I know). Following this, I went to the music room for a bit to practice Love is an Open Door for the talent show with June and then went back to the study room to practice presenting! Here is a picture of some of the presentations:
After this, we went to dinner (which I mostly ate pizza at) with THE BEST TABLE!!!!:
(Me, Elena, Saharsh, Ashwin, Henri, Leah, Dr. A, Maureen, Sai, and Oyin)
Andddd…..then went to this really really cool lounge area in which I sat in the swingy chairs for a while with Elena, Airam, Mohika, and Maya (perfect place to fall asleep):
And made this drawing on a giant free drawing pad with numerous supplies! My drawing of me and my friends holding hands. Airam also drew the SSP logo!!!:

Then…we ran back to work on our review drafts!!! Mostly work…

After I finished working on my part I ran down again to the music room to practice Misty with
Maya. There is a Canadian wildfire (again) and everything is so so smoky and smells terrible.
So here is a picture of Elena and Maya sprinting down to the music room!!!
I practiced for a good 2 times with maya ANDDD also listened to some amazing piano by David, singing by June, piano by Enya, and singing by Waris(I guess):
Finally, after a long long day I headed back to my dorm and collapsed on my bed admiring the SSP shirt (drawn by Amanda as you will see in tomorrow’s blog) and worrying about how I am going to finish this blog.
Looking back on the past few weeks, I realise that these past 5 weeks will be memories soon. Memories of laughter, crying, and smiling. Memories I hope I remember for a lifetime.

My name is Yesha and I am excited to be your blog writer today. I want to major in Biomedical Engineering or Neuroscience and am so so grateful for this experience! In my free time I like to sing, play guitar, and hang out with my friends. I can’t wait to see where my future and time at SSPI Cell Biology takes me.
