presented by Dr. Wendy Bohon, Branch Chief of Seismic Hazards & Earthquake Engineering for the California Geological Survey
California is renowned worldwide for its majestic mountains, stunning cliff-lined beaches, and breathtaking vistas. Still, the geologic processes that created this spectacular scenery can also pose a threat to the lives and livelihoods of the nearly 40 million people who reside within the state. In this talk, Dr. Wendy Bohon, Branch Chief of Seismic Hazards & Earthquake Engineering for the California Geological Survey, explores the faults of California and the hazards that they pose, tells the stories of the earthquake that changed California, and discusses ways that we can use science to inform decision making so that we can survive the earthquakes of the future and thrive in their aftermath.
