The Summer Science Program is an exciting opportunity to do collaborative, real-world research with your peers and learn from leading scientists and academics. Material is presented at a very fast pace, and the schedule is jam-packed, but every participant receives a high level of personal attention from the faculty. We foster a spirit of cooperation, reinforced by the absence of grades or tests.

You’ll be challenged to grow personally and academically and will come out with a strong community, sense of self, insight into the college experience, and understanding of scientific inquiry.

The Application Process

Admission to the Summer Science Program is limited. At the moment, we’re only able to admit around 700 participants in 2026, but don’t let that discourage you! If you’re excited about the Summer Science Program, we want to hear from you, and the application is completely free.

Our goal in the application review process is to identify the applicants who have the most to gain from and contribute to the Summer Science Program. Each application is read and carefully considered by an admissions committee of staff, volunteer alumni, and former faculty. We evaluate your application holistically and in context, taking into account your motivation, resources, and obstacles overcome.

Applicants from racial and ethnic backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in STEM and who would be the first in their family to attend college are especially encouraged to apply.

Applications are need-blind, meaning you do not need to request financial aid until after you’ve been admitted, and anticipated need for financial aid is in no way considered during the admissions process. Assuming typical expenses and assets, the Summer Science Program is free for participants with a family income of $75,000 or less, and participants with a family income under approximately $140,000 will qualify for a discount. We also offer stipends of $3,000 in addition to free admission for select participants that would otherwise need to work over the summer.
