Programs
Immersive, transformational opportunities to learn, do, and belong in science.
The Gift of Science
We believe scientific inquiry, principles, and practices cultivate a solid foundation for young people, equipping them with the skills needed to navigate and contribute to the modern world. Hands-on research and critical thinking are the foundation of all our curricula.
Our programs serve high school students and recent graduates as they navigate their academic, social, and professional development.

Summer Science Program
The Summer Science Program is one of the nation’s longest-running STEM immersion experiences. Offering high school juniors hands-on, rigorous, and collaborative experimental research opportunities, our pre-college summer education program empowers participants to achieve their personal and academic potential.
In 2026, participants choose from programs in Astrophysics, Biochemistry, Bacterial Genomics, and Cell Biology. Over the course of five weeks, working in teams of three, they delve into college-level scientific research with the support, mentorship, and guidance of leading scientists, academics, and educators while living on a college campus.
Participants come away with a strong understanding of scientific inquiry and how to overcome academic, social, and personal challenges.

SSPI College Link Mentorship Program
College Link matches recent participants of the Summer Science Program with volunteer mentors from the over 4,300 Summer Science Program alumni who have gone on to great success in their careers and in academia.
Young alumni receive mentoring and support as they navigate college applications. First-generation college students are prioritized for one-on-one mentoring, and group mentoring is also available.
STEM Learning Institute
Every student deserves the opportunity to experience science as something they can explore, question, and understand. The STEM Learning Institute helps make that possible by giving high school teachers engaging, research-based curriculum and the ongoing professional support to bring it to life in their classrooms. Developed in partnership with BSCS Science Learning, the Institute’s introductory chemistry program strengthens inquiry and critical thinking while helping schools and districts build the capacity to support excellent science teaching for years to come.
