Biochemical Symphony: The Music of Molecules Dinner, Awards & Fundraiser

Set sail on Saturday evening for a dinner and awards event aboard the San Francisco Spirit cruise ship as we enjoy a scenic journey around the Bay. This year’s theme, “Biochemical Symphony: The Music of Molecules,” invites creative cocktail attire and features themed food, drinks, and festive fun.

The evening will also feature a lively raffle and a special fundraising effort to support financial aid for future program participants. Your generosity will help ensure that all students have the opportunity to participate, regardless of their financial circumstances.

Awards

SSP International will present the following awards at the dinner:

The Beacon Award, selected by SSPI, celebrates sustained and outstanding service to SSP International and is open to alumni and honorary community members, including faculty, staff, trustees, parents, and guardians.

2025 Beacon Award Honoree: Harland Epps TA ‘59, ‘61; AAD ’64, ‘65, ’67; AD ‘66 (accepted by Steve Allen ’77)

The Legacy Award, selected by SSPI, honors an alum or friend whose lifetime dedication has deeply supported and enriched the SSPI community.

2025 Legacy Award Honoree: Steve Cotler ’60 (accepted by Emily Cotler)

We’re excited to introduce a third honor: the Young Alumni Achievement Award, selected through nominations by the alumni community. This award celebrates a Summer Science Program alum under the age of 35 who has made notable early-career accomplishments or created a meaningful impact in their field and/or community. Nominees should embody excellence, innovation, and a commitment to making a positive impact.

2025 Young Alumni Achievement Award Honoree: Emma Louden ‘15, TA ‘19
