Presented by Noa Oranim ’24
“Guppies in the Boardroom” is a thought-provoking talk by 2024 alum Noa Oranim, an incoming Stanford student and researcher with Dr. Barbara Natterson-Horowitz, a leading expert in comparative biology. Under her mentorship, Noa studied how female guppies—and more than 50 other species—adapt to male-dominated environments, drawing powerful parallels to the challenges women face in professional settings.
First presented at the 2023 ISEMPH conference, Noa’s TED-style talk has since been viewed by major companies, including EY, Motorola, and Team Liquid. At just 18, she’s a paid speaker, co-author on 12 academic papers, and has generously donated part of her fees to fund a future Summer Science Program scholarship.
