IU Biochemistry Day 30

The Amandazi Alarm

I was deep in a dream, back in Rwanda with my friends, laughing and eating amandazi
(Rwandan fried dough, aka pure happiness). Just as I reached for another one… BEEP BEEP
BEEP! My alarm ruined everything. I whispered, “Just 5 more minutes.” But guess what? I
overslept.
Suddenly, Owen, my brutally honest teammate, called:
“RAEY! You’re late. Conference room. Move!”
I jumped out of bed like someone had stolen my last amandazi. I quickly showered,
brushed my teeth, grabbed my laptop, and ran to Goodbody conference room. We worked
hard on our group presentation until 8:30 a.m.
Then we rushed to Wylie Hall and kept fixing our slides and poster. Everyone was editing
like it was our Olympic sport. At noon, I walked to the IMU and went to an Indian
restaurant. I got rice, butter chicken, bread, and a cold Fanta. Best combo of the day.
Back at Wylie, we did last-minute prep, and then presentation time. We went downstairs,
presented in front of everyone, and got some solid feedback. Some comments were
encouraging… others were slightly terrifying. But we made it!
Afterward, I ran back to Goodbody and took a power nap. At 5 p.m., we had a casual dinner
at Forest Dining Hall. I had a burger with fries and apple juice. Then I called my friend back
home.
At 7 p.m., it was back to Biology Commons for more poster and final research paper work.
By 10 p.m., I returned my laptop, took a shower, jumped into bed, and started scrolling
through reels. I don’t even know what time I fell asleep, ask Instagram.

Raymond

I’m Raymond, but my friends call me Raey. I’m a rising senior at UWC-USA in New Mexico, and I’m from Rwanda. I enjoy studying Mathematics and Science. In my free time, I like playing soccer or watching matches; I’m a Real Madrid fan! I also enjoy hanging out with friends. I hope to major in either Neuroscience or Biochemistry, with a minor in Mathematics.
