CUB Astro Day 13
It’s hard to believe that we are nearly at the half way point of the SSP summer camp! It has been an absolute incredible and exciting experience.
On the Fourth of July, we began as usual with a morning lecture where Dr. D. discussed rotational motion. We grasped concepts like torque and moment of inertia. It was very intriguing. In the afternoon Dr. Z. gave us a lecture on astronomy where we learned how astronomers quantify the brightness of celestial objects with magnitude and how to calculate it. It felt like unlocking another crucial block from understanding the universe.
As the dusk settled, we shifted gears to a celebration for the Fourth of July. SSP faculty members took us to a nearby golf course for a firework show. Sitting under the vast night sky, we enjoyed the fresh air and appreciated the bursts of dazzling colors that painted the darkness.

We sang karaoke along the way to the bus station and took the bus back to Crosman hall at around 11 pm. It was quite a day and I am so excited for tomorrow’s adventures!
Sincerely,
Joyce
