CUB Astro Day 18
It is hard to imagine that we are already past the halfway point of this program. All of the engaging research we have been doing seems to have blurred the days and weeks into a single fleeting adventure that is coming to a close. For this reason, we have found ways to make the most of every moment.
In the morning, me and a few of my other classmates dragged ourselves out of the comfort of our beds for a mellow breakfast before heading to SBO for a morning lecture.

Dr. D was the lecturer for the first session and explained the physics of reflection, refraction and lenses to us before we went on break for lunch. After, we went back to SBO for an engaging lecture from Dr. F on the mathematics behind our orbit determination. Following a day of intensive lectures, we headed off to UMC for our routine dinner where we took the chance to relax and chat about future prospects, p-sets, and the rest of the program. Though our break would only last for so long as we promptly headed back to SBO after to work on p-sets and pre-work for our observations. But before we dived into our work, we took the chance to celebrate Saadat’s birthday.

After a few minutes of laughter and cake we got back to work only to break again to play sand volleyball. As the light of the moon dimmed and the meager illuminance of the street lights darkened the court we ended our game and climbed trees for fun before heading back to SBO.

Slowly but surely people left the observatory until late shift observers (including me) were the only ones left. As much as I would like to write more, my bed is calling my name and I don’t think I can resist anymore.
Clear Skies,

Hi! My name is Yonathan, and I’m from Morton Grove, Illinois. I love physics, math, robotics, coding, and p-sets (when I’m not up till midnight finishing them). In my free time I like to run, play music, play volleyball, and listen to jazz.
