Purdue Biochem II Day 31 – Kingsley

” … But a thing isn’t beautiful because it lasts. It’s a privilege to be among them.”

Hello twins, I am Kingsley currently writing the previous day’s (i.e., Day 31) blog on my phone in a state of quiet reflection whilst indefinitely detained in the bathroom from today’s (i.e., Day 32) banana eating contest. Day 31 could be written off as another ordinary day at SSP— I arrived to CHAS at around 8:30 a.m. as our lab group scrambled to complete our posters and final reports up until noon, where we headed to Lawson to hear the faculty members’ interesting lectures on their scientific journeys.

Here is a photo from Dr. dC’s faculty lecture today. Dr. dC, are you okay?

After the lectures, we had Papa John’s pizza. Delectable. Thank you Mr. Shorey!

Later that night, the Minions (Calvin, Annie, & me) played a game of 3v3 pool in the basement and emerged victorious.

I’ve come to realize that no single day at SSP could be called ordinary— the fact that we’ve gathered together here at Purdue from around the world, united in our love for science tells you that every second of this experience was anything but ordinary.

With that, I’d like to dedicate the rest of my blog to sharing some of my favorite moments from the program.

Indiana dunes. Shout out TA Danny, Suhani, Calvin, Mingyu, Arham, Isaias, and Rialda for hiking with me (sorry if I forgot anyone). Shout out for Dr. dC for making it through the trail especially.

A small collection of our pictures taken of Calvin sleeping.

Last Sunday, we headed out during the extended boundaries hours and ran into all of the faculty members at Pizza Uncommon. If I were to suggest a restaurant to spend your last extended boundaries hours at, it’d be here if you haven’t tried it yet. The hot honey pepperoni pizza was delicious.

They have feelings too. I like to think that we’re all different, and that’s what makes us the same.

Some miscellaneous photos.

Fire alarm on the first night of SSP.

There’s nothing that I can say that’ll encapsulate the amount of fond memories that I’ve made here or how sad I feel to be letting go of all of you guys soon, but it’s been a pleasure and I would gladly do it all over again if I could. I’ll be sure to shout out as many people as I can next dinner and express my gratitude to you all.

Thank you for reading; goodbye for now!
