SSP Cell Bio: Day 8
Today is our first field trip! We spent 4 hours—which was insanely long, especially when my phone had no WIFI connection—to get to Albuquerque.
We first had lunch at Gallegos Park; the weather was so nice (I wish we had this weather at NMSU).
After lunch, we explored the trail a bit. I normally don’t like hiking, plus there was really nothing but cactus, but it was so much fun spending time with friends!
After that, we went to a water reclamation site, which was not very pleasant. Equipped with a face mask and perfume, I was still constantly at the brink of passing out due to the suffocating, unholy, hellishly offensive smell of human feces.
When we got to the last step of the water treatment process, however, I was impressed by the cleanliness of the water: the trickling stream reflected the blue sky, and in the middle of the river perched a flock of birds—respect to the people who work here, who make the community better.
By the way, I also learned to say “feces” in Hindi and Korean (We love cultural diversity). Also, the bus almost blew up from hitting the curb when we were heading back.
We had McDonald’s for dinner. I got a Filet-O-Fish burger and milk. The fish was too hard to chew (The McDonald’s fish burger in China is ten times better, highly recommended). After dinner, we went to Walmart to get some restock.
On our way back to NMSU, people started doing karaoke on the bus. At first, I tried to take a nap, but soon I gave up and joined the group. The boys interrupted us by singing Baby Shark, so we fought back by yelling K-pop.
When we arrived at campus, it was raining, which seemed pretty rare in New Mexico (I mean, we’re in a desert).
And that’s it! Thanks for reading my blog!
