The Beginning of the End
The schedule has become second nature by now. I woke up at 7:30 am to the sound of my buzzing alarm, alert and ready to start the day after a good night’s rest. By now the truth was inevitable, SSP was coming to a close. I tried to push these intrusive thoughts to the back of mind and started my morning routine. By 8:00 am I was in Foster building ready for the day’s work.
We started with a lecture from our wonderful TA, Risha, who talked about her research she was currently working on. This was very informative and eye-opening. I found this lecture to be very informative and engaging.
Following this we continue to work on our research manuscript and poster. The air was a bit tense as everyone was aware that the final presentation would be today. We worked hard on these posters and presentations, eager to showcase our research and results.
Then came lunch, which offered a peaceful break from this rush. It gave us a chance to socialize with our friends and enjoy ourselves a little. After this much needed break, we returned to Foster building to continue our study session.
We had just a little bit of time to add final touches to our poster before it was time to present. As we went through all the presentations, I was impressed. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that everyone knocked it out of the park. To commemorate this feat we celebrated with delicious tacos.
After this we headed to dinner and celebrated our success. Everyone was all smiles as we reflected on how far we came. The journey was definitely worth it.
After dinner we headed back to Foster building to finish up last minute things. As we left the lab behind for the last time we took the time to sign lab coats to remember this wonderful experience. As we head our separate ways we will remember this program that served as a common bond. We will keep these memories close to heart as we navigate life. Who knows, maybe we will see each other again. After all, the world truly is a small place.
