A Science Perspective
STEM education gives young people the gift of a scientific and curious mind.
Through science, we can empower future generations with the tools they will need to build a future of abundance and prosperity. To accomplish this, we cannot leave any bright minds behind. Increasing access to the sciences for our youth and especially for populations historically underrepresented in STEM, can create the world we envision and in turn transform science for the better by introducing a wider variety of perspectives and fresh, creative thinking.
Scientific inquiry and an understanding of research principles and practices equip us with the skills needed to navigate and contribute to the modern world. A solid foundation in science provides us with the critical thinking skills necessary to make informed decisions about health, the environment, and technology in our everyday lives. It asks us to be creative, tackle challenges from new perspectives, and seek help from each other.
All children need access to science education, not only to become scientists but to grow as informed stewards of the earth and active contributors to society. By understanding the natural world and the principles that govern it, we can play a role in addressing global challenges and driving progress.
SSP International alumni take with them the tools of scientific inquiry and a deeper understanding of themselves. They go on to academia, careers in STEM, law, art, and most importantly, to become leaders in their communities. It is thanks to their curiosity and drive to learn, create, collaborate, and explore – the gifts of science – that they find success.
